But I suppose it could have it’s place. I just need to work up the motivation to invest time into it. Don’t give up on me yet!

This was my first trip where I could use the iPhone completely without worrying about roaming or data charges. And use it I did. My GPS was on constantly, I used the camera frequently, texted folks back home, updated Facebook every few hours, and used the iPod for music for each of three evening presentations. It performed flawlessly and never ran out of battery life (with nightly recharges). I’m even posting this from it.

I’m not sure I would have needed to crack open my laptop were it not for some video editing I had to do. As nice as the iPad would be, my iPhone 4 does 95% of what I need done.

Now all I need to do is tie down that Apple endorsement, but with millions of raving fans it’s not like they need me.

This spring I started looking, but the bikes I wanted I couldn’t afford and the bikes I could afford I didn’t want.  And this one showed up on Kijiji and it seemed a little too good to be true.  I’ve always liked the bigger sport bikes, and this one had only 23k on the clock, a custom paint job and a nice Corbin seat with a detachable backrest, for the comfort of Lynn and the girls.  And insurance is cheap, too, given that it’s 20 years old and ive been riding since ’87 with no accidents or convictions.

We’re headed up to Jackson’s Point to visit friends tonight, then we’ll back through Newmarket tomorrow and bring her home .

I always liked something Rob Bell said once. “Do I speak because I have something to say, or because I have to say something”.  When you speak for a living, the later is usually true: there is an expectation that you have to say something.  I always find it a challenge to find that which has to be said.  That which resonates so strongly within me that it has to come out.

This week I’m gathering my thoughts around Romans 10:1-17 which deals with the necessity of people calling on God, and our role in helping them do that.  I’ll talk about www.hcjbglobal.ca and our work in helping pastors from different ethnic groups reach their people in their own language, and then transfer that principle to us. How we can speak the “language” of our generation and culture.  It’s english, of course, but there is a cultural element to language that we can’t ignore.

Interestingly, today is my first anniversary as a sales rep for Subaru.  I jumped into a world I knew nothing about and it’s been a blast.  But I’ve had to learn to communicate in a different way.  The “christianese” I grew up with and spent years perfecting just doesn’t work in the real world.

Lynn and I drove by a billboard on our way to Elora a few weeks ago that simply said, “Jesus dies for the ungodly.”  I knew what it meant, but I wondered how the average, non-church-attending Canadian would respond to it.  I suspect they don’t respond at all.  The billboard may as well be written in German.  Maybe German would be more effective.  At least Germans would understand it.

So there you have it.  The creative juices are flowing again. Now I’m praying that my thoughts accurately represent what God needs the folks in Boston hear.

With the return of the four door – and the wing – along with a price reduction, Subaru has another winner on it’s hands.

And, of course, you know who can hook you up with one .

For now, let me say that I haven’t had much of an issue with reception. If you bridge the gap between the case and antennae really firmly you see a 1 bar drop in reception if you’re in a weak cell area.

But Apple offered a free bumper case to all iPhone 4 buyers, and being a sucker for free things, I ordered mine on Monday through a special app and it arrived by UPS today. It actually fits like a glove, offers some extra traction for gripping the phone, and some protection when it’s sitting on my desk.
And it can’t hurt reception either.
